A refreshed 3.0-liter inline-six now makes 394 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque, with a 48V mild hybrid adding smooth electric boost. Zero to 60 mph arrives in about 5.1 seconds. Pricing starts at $69,800 for the rear-drive model and $72,100 for the all-wheel-drive xDrive.
X5 50e xDrive Plug-In Hybrid
The six-cylinder engine teams with a 194-horsepower electric motor for 483 horsepower combined and an estimated 44 miles of all-electric range, a jump of roughly 15 percent over the outgoing car. Pricing starts at $77,500.
iX5 60 xDrive, All-Electric
The first fully electric X5 pairs two motors for 570 horsepower, a preliminary 435-mile range estimate, and rapid 800V charging built on BMW's sixth-generation eDrive technology. Pricing starts at $79,800.
iX5 Hydrogen, Coming Later
Arriving after the initial launch, this fuel-cell variant blends all-electric driving with quick hydrogen refueling and becomes BMW's first hydrogen model built for series production. Timing will be announced closer to release.

Meet the First All-Electric BMW iX5
The iX5 60 xDrive is a milestone. It is the first battery-electric X5, and it debuts BMW's sixth-generation eDrive package, known internally as Gen6. The heart of the system is an 800V architecture with a completely rethought high-voltage battery, delivering more range, quicker charging, and genuine bidirectional capability.
Range, Power, and Pace
Two electric motors, one at each axle, combine for 570 horsepower and 593 lb-ft of torque. The rear axle uses an electrically excited synchronous motor developed specifically for the 800V setup, while a compact asynchronous motor up front can switch off when it is not needed so the iX5 can coast efficiently on the rear axle alone. The result is a 0 to 60 mph time of roughly 4.4 seconds and a preliminary range estimate of up to 435 miles.
Charging That Fits Real Life
The Gen6 battery accepts DC fast charging at rates up to 460 kW, so a 10 to 80 percent top-up takes about 22 minutes, and roughly 170 miles of range can be added in around 10 minutes. A standard NACS charging port and a switching matrix that also handles 400V stations mean fewer compatibility worries on the road. Before you arrive at a fast charger, the iX5 can precondition its battery to the ideal temperature, and charging-optimized route planning in BMW Maps can build in smart stops when a trip runs past a single charge.
Your Car as a Power Source
Bidirectional charging lets the iX5 give energy back. Vehicle-to-Load turns it into a mobile power bank for tools and gear, Vehicle-to-Home can keep essentials running during an outage, and Vehicle-to-Vehicle can share a charge with another EV that needs one.

Built in the Carolinas, at the Home of X
BMW Plant Spartanburg in South Carolina has assembled every generation of the X5 since 1999, and this launch marks another first for the facility. The new iX5 becomes the first fully electric vehicle to roll out of that plant. Just up the road in Woodruff, a new sixth-generation battery facility supports the iX5 while running its normal operations without fossil fuels, part of BMW's push to lower emissions in how these vehicles are made, not just how they drive.

You will recognize this as an X5 the moment you see it. The commanding stance and classic SUV proportions carry over, but the details are fresh and clearly influenced by the Neue Klasse. Vertical Kidney Iconic Glow
The signature element is a slimmer, vertically arranged BMW kidney grille that glows day and night. Set into the daytime running lights alongside the brand's new double-X light icons, it becomes part of a Welcome Light animation that greets you as you approach. Those double-X icons are a BMW first, combining low beams, running lights, side lights, and turn signals into one clean element.
A Side Profile Carved From One Piece
From the side, the X5 looks almost monolithic. Reduced surfaces and hidden window seals create smooth transitions between paint and glass, while flush BMW Winglet door handles tucked into the pillars keep the body uninterrupted. A light touch opens the available power doors, and standard Soft Close pulls them shut with a refined, quiet motion. Sharp, angular wheel arches frame the wheels and reinforce that muscular X posture.

At the back, wide shoulders and a recessed greenhouse give the X5 a planted, athletic look that also helps with aerodynamics. Slim tail lights echo the double-X theme from the front and stretch nearly the full width of the tailgate, giving the vehicle an unmistakable light signature after dark.

Two available packages turn up the athleticism. The M Sport Package adds high-gloss Shadowline roof rails, the M Aerodynamics Package, contour lighting up front that makes the X5 look wider and lower, Adaptive M Suspension, 21-inch wheels, and M Sport brakes with dark blue metallic calipers. Inside, it opens up Black and Atlas Grey sport seats in Veganza and Alcantara.
The M Sport Package Professional goes further with 22-inch Trigon wheels in Jet Black, red metallic M Sport brakes, darkened M Shadowline kidney glow, high-gloss black mirror caps, an M leather steering wheel, and M seat belts.

Personalization is generous. Eleven exterior paints are on offer, including five that are new to the X5 such as Space Silver metallic, Grey Pine metallic, and Vancouver Green metallic, with two BMW Individual Frozen finishes joining later in 2026. Ten wheel designs are available, starting with standard 21-inch alloys and reaching, for the first time on an X5, all the way up to 23 inches.

The clean exterior theme flows straight into the cabin. An elevated seating position, broad door trims, and a redesigned instrument panel give the driver an open, uncluttered view. A backlit accent strip with integrated ambient lighting wraps from door to door, shifting color and brightness with the time of day and with your chosen My Mode.
Natural Materials, Including Slate and Glass
For the first time in an X5, real slate can appear as a decorative surface through the BMW Individual Clear and Bold interior. A thin layer of genuine stone is shaped to the cabin's contours and used on the center console, where touch controls handle the parking brake, defrost, and hazard lights. Pair it with crystal glass elements for the gear selector and volume control, and the cabin gains a tactile, premium feel that photos do not fully capture.
Seating and Comfort
Heated sport seats are standard, now with extra cushioning for long drives, wrapped in leather-like Veganza in Black or Copper Brown. Step up to multifunction seats through the Luxury Seating or Climate packages and you add ventilation, massage, and four-way lumbar support. BMW Individual Merino Leather is offered with those seats in shades that include Tartufo and Vintage Coffee. A 2.4-inch longer wheelbase opens up more rear knee room, and the 40:20:40 split rear seats keep the X5 as practical as ever.
